When C-Path launched its new website, it was built to be sleek, mobile, responsive and navigable. But there was one more key element: an integration that would install top-end solutions for those living with accessibility needs.
Given the nature of our work at C-Path and our mission to advance better treatments for those living with unmet medical needs, the question wasn’t if we would find a solution, but who would we partner with? Quite simply, finding the best accessibility partner was core to who we are as an organization.
C-Path’s communications team and DEIR Committee quickly worked to research solutions and came up with a narrow list of providers. After extensive evaluation, it was clear that accessiBe Inc. offered the optimal tool for the job.
AccessiBe enables organizations like C-Path to more fully align with the Americans with Disability Act’s Web Content Accessibility Guidelines. Together, accessiBe and the ADA community endeavor to educate businesses and the general public on not only the critical medical challenges of disability, but even more importantly the social barriers of disability — and C-Path strives to do this in kind.
If you take a look at the bottom right corner of this webpage — or any across c-path.org — you’ll notice a little blue icon with a stick figure in the middle. If you click the icon — as some readers may have already done in order to take advantage of this integration — an Accessibility Adjustments Menu will pop up. This offers tailored profiles for our website that include options for those living with risk of seizure, vision or hearing impairment, ADHD, cognitive disabilities, and more, in addition to a slew of text, color, and font customizations.
Web accessibility is fundamental for ensuring that all individuals, regardless of their abilities, can access and benefit from online content and services. By creating websites that are inclusive, we empower everyone to participate fully in the digital world. Prioritizing accessibility optimizes engagement, audience reach, and legal compliance, ultimately fostering a more inclusive society where everyone has the opportunity to contribute and thrive.
At C-Path, we don’t just talk about accessibility or make statements on awareness days. Whether it be online customizations, 1:1 interactions, or in-person conferences/meetings, we live it every day.
