SHIP-MD Pre-Consortium Workshop
In February 2021, C-Path held a dynamic 3-day virtual public workshop for the System of Hospitals for Innovation in Pediatrics – Medical Devices (SHIP-MD) pre-consortium. This effort was developed and guided by a multi-stakeholder group including the Critical Path Institute (C-Path), the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) Center for Devices and Radiological Health (CDRH), AdvaMed, the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) and leaders of pediatric health systems.
The purpose of the workshop was to gather input and feedback to refine the strategic framework for SHIP-MD, which is aiming to accelerate medical device development for the unique needs of children. To improve public health for children, SHIP-MD is aimed at transforming the pediatric medical device ecosystem by de-risking and accelerating developmental processes to stimulate investment and innovation in pediatric devices.
