Arizona Center for Education and Research on Therapeutics (AzCERT)

AzCERT

The Arizona Center for Education and Research on Therapeutics is one of 14 national centers funded by the U.S. Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality to conduct research and offer educational programs that will advance the optimal use of drugs, medical devices, and biological products. Together the centers serve as a trusted national resource for health care providers, consumers and others seeking to improve health through the best use of medical therapies.

The AzCERT is a collaboration between C-Path and the College of Pharmacy of The University of Arizona. Its goal is to improve therapeutic outcomes and reduce adverse events caused by drug interactions, especially those disproportionately harming women, through research and educational programs for medical professionals and consumers. This goal, which is directed toward improving the safety of medical products currently on the market, is an excellent complement to C-Path's mission to foster the safe acceleration of the process for developing new medical products.

We achieve our mission through activities that:

  • develop unbiased knowledge about therapies and how best to use them;
  • manage risk by improving the ability to measure both beneficial and harmful effects of therapies as used in practice;
  • improve medical practice by advancing strategies to ensure that therapies are used only when they can be beneficial; and
  • inform policymakers about the state of clinical science and the effects of current and proposed policies
